2014 na! New Year Post!

So may kalokohan kasi ako kanina, I have this friend na gusto kong i-chat, so dinahilan ko nalang na ichat lahat ng kaibigan kong online and greet them a happy new year.

I really don't know if I what I should say to 2013, I guess just a good farewell I guess. Earlier this year, nakapag-ipon ako ng pera and bought a second hand 4th generation ipod (ngayon ko lang ikukwento ito gusto ko nga siyang kalimutan eh) then I didn't know that it was stolen so when it was traced the parents of that girl was accusing me to be a theif at nireport pa ako sa student affairs office ng school namin. In the end I gave them the device kahit hindi bayaran kasi:
1) that's how good I am
2) I know it's right even if it feels so wrong, and ITS WRONG NA HINDI NILA AKO BAYARAN
3) I believe that what goes around, comes around.
And my papa was arrested. All the people who respected and feared him were the same people who practically spitted on his face, even his cousins did. My mom decided to take him to US muna so that he won't hear the things people say about him. After 5-6 months, the cased was closed and everything is fine, my dad is with us and I'm so happy. But those months were the darkest months of our lives, it's very difficult for us four. Kami ng ate ko na naiwan dito, we felt so alone. Sa dami ng kamag-anak namin, siguro kulang sa sampu ang nakakaalalang mangamusta every now and then. Then the rest nagparamdam nalang nung pabalik na sina mama. I hate those people na hindi kami naalala noong mga panahong wala sina mama, tapos biglang nakaalala nung pauwi na sila. Now I know who among my relatives can I rely on, mind you that they are very few.

Hindi ko na maalala yung ibang events that wants me to curse 2013. But I'm telling you marami pa po.

On the lighter side, yes napagbigyan akong magpapublish ng dalawang book, yung isa malakas ang sales while super hina naman nung isa kong novel. I don't know what to feel actually. I'm happy, but also disappointed. But the dreams I had when I was in high school slowly realized themselves one by one. I'm a little scared because everything happened so fast, and I'm just afraid it's not meant to last.

Finally my best friend and her girlfriend and I are okay. We've talked already, we're cool with each other. Slowly regaining our lost bonds, pero I can't say I'm that confident na maibabalik namin ang lahat sa dati. But I hope!

18 years old ako nang una akong mag bar, yes ngayong taon lang ako natutong magbar. Though natry ko naman na noong 16 ako.

Somethings still didn't change tulad ng friendzoned parin ako at may VIP seat parin ako dun. Still no girlfriend, proud virgin (kasi konti nalang kami haha) but still hoping na soon I'll have a girlfriend. Sana lang hindi na ako matorpe.

So I really don't know what to say to 2013. I guess, farewell! Good riddance. But still thank you for all the blessings this year. Who am I to complain? I am just grateful that this year was the year that my dreams - the things I really wanted - came true. (insert Don't Stop Believing song here)

I'm looking forward for a better year, a better future as 2014 sinks its teeth on our pulsating necks! I know this will be tough, but I will make this year a whole year of living my dreams!

Comments and Review for Unwanted Fairy Tale

Okay. Here it is.

Let’s start with the title. First and foremost, gustong gusto ko talaga yung title. Very catchy.

Way of writing naman, style ba tawag dun? Haha. In general na yun. Tsaka pala yung choices of words, pang totoy talaga. Wala gaanong paliguyligoy. Pero mas okay siguro kung mabulaklak pa. Para pandagdag effect.

Let’s go naman sa mga characters. Okay naman sila. Gustong gusto ko mga names . Sa personality and everything naman, they are well introduced to the point na, for me, medyo wala ng sense of surprise. Sense of surprise in a way na mabigyan pa sana ng chance yung mga readers to go deeper and discover things about them as they go on reading. It seems like nasabi na almost lahat tungkol sa kanila umpisa pa lang. I know naman, kadalasan ganun talaga but my point here is that maybe, you can do it in a different way yet interesting pa rin. Unique kumbaga. Tsaka I’m looking for something dun sa ibang characters. Something naparang trademark nila. Yung tipong masasabi kong, “Ah. Si ganto pala yun. Yung mahilig sa ganto. Yung ganto ganyan” in just one snap if possible. Hehe. Konting push pa sa mga yun. And lastly, konting evil minds pa.

Tapos, biglang mauudlot. Or on the other hand naman, andun na ako, expecting for more pero natapos na agad yung scene na yun. I do not know kung style ng author talaga yun kasi di ko naman masabi, first book niya ito eh. Tsaka konting dagdag pa sana sa mga major scenes and supporting scenes kumbaga. Like bonding moments ng mga kaibigan ni Valene or kaibigan ni Vince or Shiela’s. Tas mga scenes ng kanya kanyang family para mas makilala pa yung mga members ng family and the major characters as well. And most especially, yung mga kilig moments ni Vince and Valene na mala-fairytale talaga! MOOOOOOORRRREEEE !Puh-Leeeeaaasse ! More romantic moments together or kasama pa ang iba sa book 2 ha? More “Awwwww” effect din. Pero gustong gusto kotalaga yung mga unexpected events mo most especially ending! Napa-SHEMAY talaga ako! Haha. Asssshhhhheeeeennnn ! :D Haha !

So to wrap this up, it is a good and interesting story of a 16 year-old kiddo (if Im not mistaken ha? Haha. Pero yan kasi talaga description ko eh. Haha. I enjoyed reading it yow! I really do. Keep it up. Congratulations ! So proud of you ! And sana may sense tong mga sinabi ko. Haha.

The Humble Beginnings

I've never relayed my story of how I've started. I don't know who would like to know but, hey it's my blog so I'll post it anyway.

I'll tell the story short. I am not a book lover when I was a kid. But then these friends of mine (Jessan and Karla. Yep! I derived some characters from them) was so obsessed with this vampire novel series consisting of four books where vampires sparkle under the sun. Second year high school ako noon, at yun ang taong ipinalabas ang Twilight movie. I tried to read the whole series, and I was hooked into it. That was the beginning of my book addiction. Second year high school summer, I bought a DVD of an anime where a girl was sucked into a book to play a role of a priestess of a beast god where she collects the seven stars of that beast god to obtain its powers. I was an instant addict/die hard fan. I wrote a fanfic about it when the next school started. That was my first ever story.

I was so inspired by my friend's love story where she was in love with her best friend. Friend zoned? No no no. Her best friend feels the same way. Yes, I'm kind of jealous because I never made it out of friend zone. So I wrote a story with a title "Heart Over Matter." The picture at the left is a cover for the book created by my... well, childhood friend. *wink. LOOOOONGGG STORRRRYYY!!!! And it's over anyway so moving on!

The book was about a boy who fell for her childhood best friend who feels the same way towards him. They met on an orphanage when they were still kids, got separated for some reason and they met when they were 16. Family problems + love conflicts = total disaster! Of course I want it to be published but I still need to write revisions kasi medyo bata bata ang nagkwento and it's very much patterned sa mga soap operas sa Pinas! The characters in this story appeared briefly on a chapter of the book "Unwanted Fairy Tale."

After I wrote HOM, I wrote Unwanted Fairy Tale shortly. I have planned so much twists and plots and more for it, but under some circumstances of heart aches and heart breaks I decided to cut it short. I'll share this secret, all the things I wrote sa last few chapters ng UFT is everything I wanted to say for the real Valene, regardless kung si Vince man o si Valene ang nagsabi sa chapters na yun.

I wrote several stories after, my fourth and firth was Bloodlines and Heartstrings books 1 and 2. My sixth was UFT 2. So I've been writing for quite a while now and you can see the evolution of my style sa bawat librong nasusulat ko.

So every time I see someone buying my book, reading them and posting them online (some adds me on facebook and some sends me messages on instagram), it warms my heart.

My friends are so happy for me, they've seen me when I was starting. They were with me when I was dreaming, they've watched me dream. Some of my schoolmates just thought that I was just being pathetic. And now my dreams are beginning to realize themselves. My friends are watching me as I live these dreams with eyes wide open, my critics too!

Dreams do come true. Of all the things na ginagawa ko, this is the only thing na hindi ako napapagod. I guess yun yung sinasabi nilang "passion."

A Book Review for "The K-Pop Star and I"

The K-Pop Star and I
JP Adrian
Copyright 2013
A Teen Fiction Novel

I personally am not aware of the existence of this particular novel until my publisher sent me a copy together with a copy of a contract I have signed before hand. I didn't pay much attention to it since I myself am not a fan of K-Pop. I even considered giving it to my friend who's a big fan of Koreans and Korean culture. I put it inside my cabinet at my apartment and it stayed there for months. Christmas of 2013 came and I went home to my hometown and brought all the books my publisher sent me and displayed them on my mini shelf. Out of boredom I decided to read "The K-Pop Star and I"

The title of the book was simple, but it sure will catch any K-Pop die hard fan's attention. Upon reading it's background, I have already predicted how will the story go - the girl who serves as this Korean Pop Idol's assistant will definitely fall in love with him and the K-Pop artist will surely fall for her too and they will be forced to part in the end.

As I read the story, regardless of my "predictions" I still can't remove the smile on my lips as I read each word. I can imagine the characters and the scenes clearly in my head. The scenes in my head tickles me from the inside and I kept on reading for I can't bring myself to release the book from my hands.

The characters, Joy Natividad was very predictable for me. She was that type of heroine you see in most Filipino soap operas and Filipino novels. While Sir, though very predictable with his arrogance and tough personality, remained mysterious for the author never mentioned a name. But clues (or maybe I thought they were clues) can be found in the first few chapters of the book and I there was a name of a Korean actor in my head - Lee Min Ho. I was fond with Kuya Rodel, he was so funny and sarcastic. He does the kind of thing I would do and I would say if I'm there with Joy and Sir. Lola Minerva was such a fangirl, she is the epitome of what will the fangirls of our generation would be like when they reach late adulthood. Love was not the typical type of sister, unlike other sisters who have cat fights with their siblings, she loves Joy. Maybe it's because she was already 18 and less childish than what I'm thinking. Oh yeah, about their age, JP Adrian said that Joy was 11 when their parents died on a car accident, and Love as 5. Then at present time, Joy was 21 and Love was 18. So where did that 3 years go?

I can totally imagine the setting where the story was, familiar places (except for Bulacan and Valenzuela for I have never set a foot there) helped me to just read, imagine and enjoy the story.

The story flow was very light. The introduction was simple, they met on a simple day but in a unexpected way. But the moment she bumped someone I knew that was it. The story was light and I have no problems until the end. I just wish he didn't use a first person point of view, I wish he used third person instead and gave more of Sir's point of view. Nabitin ako dun sa short part under the tree with the fire flies.

The end of the story was fulfilling, but there's a question left in head - "What will happen next?" Perhaps Sir and Joy will have a problem with regards to the life Sir left just to be with her? Maybe JP Adrian will take us to Korea next! I don't know actually.

One little note about the story, it was very similar to Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby's movie titled "You Are The One."

In summary, the book was good! I definitely would recommend the book to my friends, especially those who loves K-Pop.

Jasmin Curtis with Bloodlines and Heartstrings

(c) Statmometer/Edsel Roy
That awesome moment when Jasmin Curtis had a photo holding my book "Bloodlines and Heartstrings."

The photo was taken by my publisher sa isang event held by TV5. I can't express how much kilig I felt when I saw this. Jasmin Curtis is one of my celebrity crushes along with her sister Anne. I was with my clinical groupmates and our research promoter doing research stuffs when I recieved an e-mail notification from facebook saying my publisher tagged me on a photo/post. And all of us were squealing. Haha.

A Review for Unwanted Fairy Tale

Unwanted Fairy Tale
So when I first got my complimentary copies of Unwanted Fairy Tale from my publisher, I sent one to my cousin and asked her to endorse it to her friends after the release of this book. And she did. And to my surprise, one of her friends made a review. Here it goes...

"Title: Unwanted Fairy Tale
it gave out a very small hint about sa story. ^.^ 👍

~description:
wag mong idescribe ang characters, let the readers find out for themselves. it's okay na di mo lagyan ng bonggang bonggang description, kahit simple lang. ang importante is mag-iwan ito ng impression na: 'anong nangyari? bakit ganun?' or 'mukhang interesting ang story'.
~plot:
SM San Lazaro
one word. cliche. from the start to the end. but, it was cliche in a good way. well for me, kahit napepredict ko ang mangyayari, it was still nice. another thumbs up dun! 👍

~story flow:
feeling ko nagfast forward lahat. it all happened too fast. siguro dahil to sa loob ng 5hrs ko to binasa. pero maraming mga pangyayari na kailangan ng time sa story. gaya nung kila shiela at gino. parang ang bilis ata? naging sila agad? yun lang naman napansin ko. yung mga scene na parang nag-over skip. i felt like it needed more scenes. yun lang =">>>

~characters:
let's start with vince. to be honest, wala akong nakitang mali sa kanya. kay valene, cliche, especially yung pag-change nya in appearance, pero aside from that, she's normal. kay shiela, a total mary sue, she's described as perfect and flawless. still human, pero may pagka mary sue talaga sya. as for the friends, same. maybe more flaws? overall, they work as harmony. so still good!
at SM Mega Mall after few days from release date

~overall & final comment:
i enjoyed the story =)) di ko inexpect yung ending kahit na cliche to at predictable. alam ko sinulat mo to nung 16 ka pa lang, yun yung nakalagay sa autograph mo kay camiele eh haha... pero, i just wanted to share what i think. thank you sa pagbasa ng review ko =)))

-Bianca Tupan"

So yun yung review. :) I really apreciated this one, now I am nothing but excited for Unwanted Fairy Tale 2: Lovestruck and how will the readers react to it.

I Met a Girl

"I Met a Girl" by Charles Agustin, from Unwanted Fairy Tale 2: Lovestruck
- it was the poem Jan wrote for his one and only love, Alyanna.

I met a girl when I was 6
I knew she was the princess I seek
She asked me to be her partner
And that was the beginning of our forever.

I met a girl and she's a princess to me
She always had a smile in her lips
A smile that lights up my day
With a voice sweet as a nightingale

I met a girl, and she's my best friend
She promised to be there up to the end
And I love her, more than a friend
And that was the beginning of our end.

I met a girl, but she's a stranger to me
She's no longer the girl I thought she should be
People change, and you can't expect them to stay the same
But the change was so drastic, she's now playing a different game.

I met a girl, and she told me I deserve a good girl
What she doesn't know is that once upon a time,
from the time that everything was fine,
I wanted her to be mine.
